Reyna and Maritza Vazquez, founders of Veracruz All Natural, are excited to announce their new restaurant concept opening this Spring in the burgeoning Mueller district, right across the street from beautiful Mueller Lake Park at 1905 Aldrich St. suite 125.
Named Veracruz Fonda & Bar, this new space is a sit-down, table service restaurant with a modern, traditional dinner menu, specializing in antojitos (small bites) and plates inspired by their mother’s Fonda (family restaurant) in Veracruz, MX. There is a full bar, developed in collaboration with Osvaldo Vazquez of Bitter Barrell, featuring original signature cocktails, beers, and wines.
In the mornings, customers will enjoy a full service coffee bar, developed in collaboration with Juan and Sergio Trujillo of Desnudo Coffee, featuring cafe lechero, a coffee staple in Veracruz, MX, and homemade conchas, an iconic Mexican pan dulce, baked by Chef Reyna Vazquez. A dedicated breakfast menu is also available, highlighted by delicious open faced tacos named Picadas, a standout dish native to Reyna and Maritza’s hometown.Veracruz Fonda & Bar is the combination of three generations of family which brings a mixture of old and new, culminating in a menu that features traditional flavors presented in modern ways. It is a place to experience delicious food and drinks, to feel comfortable and included, and to enjoy an inviting and spacious dining room and patio designed by Charles Melanson and BRWN collective. Reyna and Maritza have thoughtfully considered every aspect of their new restaurant with the vision of immersing customers in the tastes, smells, and sounds of their mother’s fonda in Veracruz. They hope their guests will feel the same excitement they had as children waking up to the smell of mama Reyna cooking picadas, or the anticipation of eating mole with family after a long shift in the kitchen.
